The brand “Balkancar” appears at the end of 60s years of last century. Its reserved logo however prompt an international litigation. After Bulgaria began to exports trucks for West, it appears that Belgian company, that trades on the international market, has registered nearly identical trademark. The case was taken to court, as the foreign company is trying to force Balkancar” to change its logo. But on Bulgarian side in the dispute invades some of our best lawyers. They were able to prove that the brand of home company is materially different from that of the Belgian and so our company retains its logo. The structure of the state union Balkancar” includes not only the five assembly plants. It includes plants for the production of intermediates, used in the creation of electric trucks and forklifts. At the end of the 80s it consists of 39 branches 31 in the country and 8 abroad. In its factories producesand buses, cars, bicycles and others.

From year to year the number of transport-lifting machines that make our country grow.

In 1978 Bulgaria even appears on the top placein the world in total volume of production and export of trucks about 89 000. In this position the country remained a number of years. For comparison, this time in all other European countries generally produces around 17 000 -18 000 such machines yearly. In 1988 Bulgaria produces one fifth of the world’s electric trucks and forklifts and production per capita ranks first place in the world (82,5 thousand per year). In1986 on absolute production of electric trucks and forklifts it is on third place in the world: FRG 113,7 thousand, Japan 111,6 thousand, Bulgaria 84,8 thousand,U.S.A. – 50,0 thousand. For the period 1981-1990, an average of 90% of this production is exported. In the period 1984-1990, the share of exports of Bulgarian electric trucks and forklifts is 17% of total world production.

The majority of the production of Bulgarian electric trucks and forklifts is exported. Average his annual volume moves within the 70 000-75 000 number of machines. Naturally, most of them about 60 000 units went to the USSR, 5 000-6 000 go to the German Democratic Republic (GDR), and the so-called second direction (countriesoutside CMEA) is trading around 4 500 units per year. Trucks are exported to UK, France, Spain, Italy, the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG), Egypt, Singapore, etc. Against exports of trucks to CMEA countries, Bulgaria gets the oil, gas and metals at lower prices.

Besides nearly 40 factories in the country, that create products with the brand “Balkancar”, began cooperative production of trucks in different parts of the world China, Iran, Cuba, DPRK, Turkey, Algeria, Yugoslavia, Nigeria. At the end of the 80s Balkancar” produces output worth about 1,4 milliard rubles. It ranks among the leading companies in our country, along with “IZOT” (for electronics) Bulgarplod“, “Bulgartabac” and others.

1987, however, marked the beginning of the end for Balkancar.” Of its structures are subtracted organizationsthat create intermediate products necessary for the production of trucks. This distorts the process of supplying the necessary parts untimely and inadequate performance. This is one of the reasons that the production of trucks gradually decreases, until in the early 90s declined to only 2 000-3 000 units per year.

During socialism, our country ranks among the world leaders in the production of trucks. Balkancar” reaches natures, volumes and export of electric trucks and forklifts American Clark” and the Japanese Toyota”.
